Beginner Ukulele Series
 

Join Ed Priest and Ferry Beach Retreat and Conference Center for Beginner’s Workshops Series on learning to play the Ukulele. Learn to play Ukulele or learn more about Ukulele if you already play, all in a comfortable and judgment-free environment. This workshop is offered in three different “levels” based on experience.

Description: Learning the Uke: This program is for those wanting to learn or learn more about playing Ukulele. Learn through great guidance and play fun songs including those from the 1960’s era. All are welcome.

Worskshop Levels:

  • Beginner Ukulele Workshop Level 1: 2/3-2/17: To Take this class, no experience is required but you must have a ukulele and a clip-on tuner.
  • Beginner Ukulele Workshop Level 2: 2/24-3/10: To take this class, you must be able to play the chords C, F, and G7& own a ukulele and a clip-on tuner.
  • Beginner Ukulele Workshop Level 3: 3/17-3/31: To take this class, you must be able to play the chords C, Am, Dm, Em, F, and G7, own a ukulele and a clip-on tuner.

About Ed Priest: Ed retired in June of 2019 from 30 years of teaching 8 years of high school and 22 years of middle school French and Spanish using music as a daily part of his teaching, as well as providing many concerts and workshops to the Massachusetts Foreign Language Association (MaFLA) He has his B.A. in Music and French from the University of Lowell, and a Masters in French from Middlebury College, VT and Paris, France where he lived for a year. Ed studied ukulele for 3 years at Ferry Beach under Frets Halligan, and has been teaching ukulele at Circle of Music since 2013, as well as workshops throughout the U.S., including summers at Whidbey Island in the state of Washington. He has served as Musician of the Week for 3 summers of Kid’s Week at Ferry Beach and was the Musician of the Week for Circle of Music for last summer and is scheduled for the summer of 2021 as well. Ed successfully taught Ukulele Classes Online with Ferry Beach in the Spring and Summer of 2020. As a professional musician Ed has worked for over 35 years performing at nightclubs, functions, schools, churches, colleges and campgrounds. Ed is also a member of the Mariachi band “Los Charros de Morelos” where he has been performing with them in and around Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico during the summer since 2009.
