Grace under pressure- a weekend retreat for men, advancing the practice of stress management, acceptance, and the practice of universal love. This is a weekend for connection, care and community building with each other. We will explore how we maintain our sense of self while demonstrating grace in our interactions.
This midwinter gathering is for men to explore the role of compassion, connection, and personal understanding while coping with stress in our world today. If you want to react with kindness when struggling with someone who ‘does something stupid’ or have had a moment or two where you wish you ‘didn’t say that’ - this weekend is for you. We will explore eight habits to reduce stress, describe how your brain and body responds to stress and how to manage the negative effects. You will learn about the process and use of empathy in order to maintain grace under pressure during conflict.
The weekend explores the spiritual and neurological foundations of our lives. Using our collective experience, science and spiritual understandings, we will build a community of support, connection and cooperative leadership. Challenging ourselves to accept our frailties without shame and embrace our strengths without righteousness.
There will be times for meditation and quiet reflection combined with large group and small group discussions/activities. Journaling, visual arts, music, along with storytelling will form our community.
We will have story telling (think of Moth Radio) and sharing of talents (talent / no talent night) on Saturday evening.
In addition to the exploration of our inner landscapes, we will explore the winter landscape of the Ferry Beach campus. Outdoor play opportunities include exploring the woods of the Grove and/or beach while walking, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing. (bring your own gear and warmth) Sunrise and sunset observations and if the sky is clear some star light time in the Grove are on our ‘list of things to do’.
All the activities will be challenge by choice, (and weather dependent). You will have options out in the winter environment and inside the wonderful buildings of Ferry Beach.
Our intent is to develop a community of men committed to promoting kindness, love, compassion and consciousness while embracing the evolution of our masculine identity.
The facilitators for the weekend are:

$75 for those commuting and $175 for those staying over (Friday and Saturday night)
